Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the team enter areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.
Audiences can expect learning which adventurers will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
