The Iconic Puzzle Game Wouldn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification May Address This Issue

As any major prize-giving event nears, you'll find an outcry to include of new categories to acknowledge overlooked contributions and satisfy the spirits of followers with niche passions.

Another commentator previously argued advocating for terror-themed awards. That would be fantastic. So would tabletop games, which is a passionate advocate's mission. Yet I need to apologize in advance if I try to elbow in front just as with other blinkered fanatics, there's a strong justification supporting my request remains most pressing and important of all. Here's the proposal: We need a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Organizing artistic expressions isn't exact; it’s very subjective, and typically generate discussions and end in fuzzy definitions. There’s a reason cinema institutions avoid this approach. However, it represents an essential concession within the realm of gaming, showing incredible range they barely qualify one unified medium.

To recognize the complete range of interactive entertainment excellence to receive acknowledgment, and to ensure all game types to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Present Award Structure

The major gaming awards offer these classifications covering Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, Role-Playing, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Together, these six categories actually cover a lot of ground, making space possible for most games within them.

Different situation exists for logic-based experiences. No appropriate category exists to accommodate them. Examine these examples from outstanding current releases, showing diverse approaches: the architectural riddles from a specific release, intense tile-matching from another release, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles from additional release. Which classification works among existing types? Nowhere, that’s where.

The Representation Problem

There are dozens of brilliant puzzle games launched regularly without proper recognition during gaming ceremonies, unless they happen to qualify classification types such as Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, and the highly challenging small studio competitions.

  • An iconic brain-teaser received no recognition completely during that awards season
  • Another imaginative release missed out in 2019
  • Popular arranging title received no acknowledgment recently
  • Only a few puzzle games scraped into independent or mobile categories

Importance of Logic Titles

These are often compact experiences, yet the craft in brain-teasers is of massive significance. Iconic mobile puzzle games count as most engaged experiences worldwide and have been for over a decade.

The famous puzzle experience rivals popular creative games competing to become highest-selling title ever; it additionally competes for top gaming experience. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks for gaming as medium, and they are in conversation with almost every other genre.

Proposal and Rationale

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter this problem. You could fill a field of five engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — or rather, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave many worthy titles.

And to reiterate, these represent titles without proper classification at major gaming awards. Brain-teaser creators operate at the challenging frontier interactive creation, developing some of essential manifestations within interactive entertainment. Similar to cinema stunt performers, they deserve recognition. Let’s not keep them waiting 35 years.
